Daytrip to Nearby Whidbey Island
Whidbey Island is reached via a short and scenic Washington State Ferry ride from the downtown Mukilteo Ferry dock. A very large island, it's still retained its rural lifestyle and galleries, small shops, and restaurants. The main Boeing manufacturing plant is just up the hill from the Mukilteo-Whidbey Ferry, and many local Boeing workers choose Whidbey Island living over the faster pace of the mainland.
Well known as the home of Naval Air Station Whidbey, its many artistic communities and quaint waterfront villages and restaurants make it a favorite weekend destination for Seattleites. We enjoy walking along the historic waterfront, visiting the galleries, and enjoying a hearty lunch in the local deli bakery. Living on Whidbey Island allows you to enjoy a world apart from the pace of Seattle, while still being close enough to enjoy working in Bothell or Everett.
